Kieran Long is the director of Amos Rex, the hugely successful art museum in Helsinki. He was previously director ArkDes, the Swedish national centre for architecture and design, and the Keeper of the department of Design, Architecture and Digital at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. He has had a career as a curator, museum director, broadcaster, teacher and award-winning writer in the fields of art, architecture and design. Kieran's work at the V&A has focussed on creating an entirely new strategy for contemporary collecting in design. That effort has included the inception of the Rapid Response Collecting strategy, one that received press attention worldwide and has resulted in a permanent gallery at the V&A in South Kensington. Kieran's work at the V&A focusses on the intersection of design and public life, and most recently manifested in him co-curating the critically acclaimed (http://www.ft.com/cms/s/2/1691c77e-d88a-11e4-ba53-00144feab7de.html) exhibition All of This Belongs to You (March to July 2015). He is also working on future V&A exhibitions on the topics of Engineering, Video Games, and the future of design and technology. He is now leading the content for the V&A's project to build a major new museum in Stratford, East London, which will complete in 5-6 years.Kieran's career before the V&A included running the curatorial team for the 2012 Venice Biennale of Architecture (and co-authoring its ambitious publications). Kieran was also Editor-in-chief of the Architects'​ Journal and the Architectural Review, architecture critic for the Evening Standard, and has had work published in newspapers, magazines and books around the world. As a broadcaster, he fronted three series of the hit BBC television show Restoration Home and three series of his own show 'The House that £100K Built'.
