Key Achievements:Created and successfully piloted new aging in place program in partnership with healthcare organization, Colorado Visiting Nurse Association. Key Responsibilities:Manage and complete home repair projects with partner families in the Globeville and Elyria-Swansea neighborhoods in Denver. Assess, create scopes of work and materials budget estimates for each project assigned to me. I meet with partner families in their homes to complete assessments and sign contracts. I complete major exterior home repairs (window and door replacements, fence repair and replacement, siding and trim repair and replacement, porch repair and replacement, etc.) with crews of unskilled volunteers for 1 to 4-week projects. Assist in managing and scheduling subcontractors for projects. Manage homeowner needs, concerns, and expectations regarding projects. Assist in interviewing and hiring AmeriCorps members, and help to manager their positive, rewarding experience during their service term at HFHMD. I organize the construction tasks each day and prepare our crew leaders to supervise small groups of volunteers. I served two years as an AmeriCorps member with Habitat for Humanity of Washington, DC (DCHFH). During this time I led daily groups of up to 20 unskilled volunteers in construction tasks on 16 different residential units in DC through various stages of construction from foundation to finish. In my second term I took on the role of training a group of 6 new AmeriCorps crew leaders. I earned greater responsibility on site, supervising up to three teams of volunteers, taking deliveries, and handling minor interactions with subcontractors.

The DeFrank Library Committee was in the process of expanding its resources and programming as part of the Community Center. As a committee member I organized committee meetings, communicated meeting notes to committee members. I directed a project to beautify and update the space. With a small budget, we were able to acquire new computers and desks, rearrange the layout to create a more open and inviting atmosphere, and repaint the walls. I co-led the planning of the Library’s first art gallery opening with over 100 attendees.

As the Assistant to the Director Maintenance, I coordinated with 19 separate weekly volunteer groups. Meeting Ground provided housing for volunteers at their largest site, where I organized daily tasks and activities for volunteers, and guided community interaction and education about poverty and homelessness. I build relationships with residents of Meeting Ground’s programs and fostered positive exchanges between residents and volunteer groups.
