About Kiko Thiel, Phd

I research, consult and speak about "In Search of Extraordinary - What makes people do extraordinary things?" My research distinguishes between excellence and the extraordinary, and between incremental innovation vs. the outer reaches of radical innovation - paradigm creation. I focus particularly on the mindsets and behaviours that enable the creation of the extraordinary - creation of new paradigms and outliers that challenge our notion of reality, or our notion of what's possible.My work is generated by the extraordinary stories I’ve uncovered through deep interviews. I make sense of these stories by integrating multiple academic disciplines: sociology, social psychology, management theory, innovation theory, statistical theory and neuroscience. But ultimately it is the stories which awe and inspire us to see the world in new and different ways.My work reveals that there is a whole new approach to research - the science of the extraordinary. I am eager to find others to join me in further exploration of In Search of Extraordinary.
