Konstantinos Iliakis received his diploma in computer engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece. His diploma thesis was on the design of a novel MapReduce runtime for shared-memory multi-/many-cores that managed to relax the synchronization and utilize the CPUs resources more effectively. He is now pursuing his PhD in the area of high performance computer architecture, being affiliated with MicroLab (ECE, NTUA) and CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research). His research interests include computer architecture, high performance computing, parallel and distributed systems, and GPGPU architectures. When not studying or working, he mostly enjoys travelling abroad and building pet Arduino/ RasPi projects involving sensors and actuators. He is currently working on the efficient scale-out of the beam dynamics simulator BLonD, developed for the purposes of CERN. He can be contacted at konstantinos.iliakis@cern.ch .
