I've been in the Transportation Logistics field since 2016, and if you count driving an ambulance in two different states, then maybe since 2013.In 2016, I had the great opportunity to enlist in the Marine Corps as a Motor Transportation Operator. Driving was fun, don't get me wrong, but my passion began when I worked at III MEF G-4/MMDC in Okinawa, Japan for over a year of my four-year enlistment.While there, I was a critical component in transportation movements on the island for the Marines. I handled a variety of tasks ranging from coordinating port heavy equipment operations for mission readiness and arranging transport for Marines during their six-month deployment rotations to the island. I also supported several annual operations that occur on both Okinawa and Iwakuni. Additionally, I learned a lot about efficient route planning and OS/OW [oversized/overweight] road restrictions for tactical vehicles, which was actually quite fun for me. When I rotated back to the US to Camp Pendleton, I finished out the remaining year and a half of my enlistment doing dispatching for my unit, 1st TSB Bravo Company.From the Marines, I was fortunate enough to land my first civilian job outside the Corps as a Transportation Area Manager for Amazon for a year and a half. This was a high-paced environment with a chain of command similar to the military, so I jumped into my role rather quickly, but not before learning how to break some old Marine habits! Knife hands and all.However, I then decided to relocate to Texas, and unfortunately, I didn't meet the requirements to transfer my role out there, so I had to resign. Within a week of my resignation, I was lucky to have met the team of my dreams: uShip.Currently, I am a Carrier Success Manager with uShip, and I absolutely love my job. Our carriers are incredibly dynamic, and they're all a valued part of our orchestrated Last Mile design. My future endeavor is to one day become a Sr. Operations Manager within the transportation logistics field, preferably focused on Logistics, Compliance, and Quality Control, but I've got all the time in the world to chase my dreams. That's what makes the chase so fun!
