I enjoy counseling individuals from all walks of life - every gender, marriage or civil partnership, gender reassignment,pregnancy and maternity leave, sexual orientation, disability, race, color, HIV status, ethnic background, nationality, religion or political opinion, and/or age. I have spent most of my adult life doing mental health work in some capacity. I have held progressively responsible positions in the behavioral/mental health systems in North Carolina for about 25 years, including working on the front line through being a Program Manager in child placement programs, Quality Management and Accreditation supervision at an addictions clinic, at a group home for adolescents, and managing the following service lines in a private, child-placing agency: Intensive Family Alternative Treatment, Therapeutic Foster Care, Foster Care, Adoptions, and Respite Care. I also have served individuals with disabilities for seven years.My other areas of specialty include the diagnosis and treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Generalized Anxiety (GAD), Adjustment Disorders, Mood Disorders and Depressive Disorders secondary to exposure to a traumatic event or events while working with survivors of sexual and physical violence. I have received training in the following evidenced-based treatments: Assertive Community Treatment (ACT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Structured Psychotherapy for Adolescents Responding to Chronic Stress (SPARCS), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT). I also have been trained in the following models: Nurturing Parenting based on Affect-Behavior-Cognition (ABC), Pressley Ridge, Cornell's C.A.R.E. Trauma Model, and the state's Model Approach to Partnership Parenting, Therapeutic Foster Care, and Adoptions training programs. was my agency's sexual assault liaison, for hospital accompaniment, including for the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA). I am a Certified Victims' Service Practitioner. I would like to become a Clinical Supervisor one day to honor my own.I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I obtained My Master of Science Degree in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University. I began a doctoral program at North Central University for a Doctorate in Philosophy with Specialization in Trauma.
