○ Supporting the development of the SU strategic and operational plans.○ Strategically developing student-led opportunities.○ Supporting elected officers to achieve their manifesto commitments, projects and campaigns.○ Ensuring effective partnership working between the department and key stakeholders.○ Effective performance management of staff, adhering to a performance management framework.○ Developing a programme of training and support for students involved in the delivery of student opportunities.○ Leading on planning, delivering and evaluating key annual events and activities.○ Preparing submissions and reports for Board of Trustees and University Committees.

○ Representing Strategic Planning and Student Administration at senior university level meetings.○ Acting as Senior Officer to Panels/Boards, providing authoritative procedural/regulatory guidance.○ Leading on the development of student facing policy and procedures to satisfy stakeholders.○ Developing training materials for the University in relation to new policy and procedures.○ Delivering training to staff on university student facing procedures.○ Leading on the development and maintenance of new processes and self-service facilities for students.○ Supervision of a team of Student Administration Officers, acting as a source of expertise on university regulations and procedures.

○ Supporting elected officers on advice and welfare related campaigns.○ Managing and developing WGSU Advice Centre in line with sector best practice.○ Responsibility for departmental planning and development in line with the Students’ Union strategy.○ Recruitment, induction, and management of staff including undertaking regular performance reviews.○ Stakeholder relationship development.○ Representing the SU and contributing to university senior level committees and working groups. ○ Providing reports for the SU Board of Trustees and various university boards and committees.

○ Supporting elected officers on advice and welfare related campaigns.○ Providing up to date information, advice, support and advocacy to individual students and groups.○ Empowering and enabling students to manage their own situations with clarity and confidence.○ Supporting students to attend meetings and hearings.○ Design of advice related promotional materials.

○ Leading on, facilitating and reviewing TAF assessments.○ Working within a multiagency approach to ensure best outcomes for children and young people.○ Supporting families subject to Child Protection and Child in Need plans. ○ Submitting reports to and attending Child Protection and Child in Need Conferences.○ Facilitating parenting programmes within Surestart Children’s Centres and in the family home.
