I am the author of 'Engaging Soccer Coaching Games', published in February 2021. The book contains over 250 original soccer games. Each game is explained in detail and includes many alternatives allowing the coach to personalise each game to their team’s and individual players' level. Focused games are an evolution from the traditional 'drill', offering players a more realistic environment for learning and development. The book's games subtly guide players to learn through exploration, rather than by dictation, allowing them to find the best way that suits them. Games are competitive, but not comparative so that players are engaged but focused on the learning process, rather than the outcome. This allows them to learn more comprehensively. Rather than mirroring the example of others, games offer players the opportunity to express themselves and find unique, personalised solutions to problems.
