Production, Quality and Implementation Manager for Area UK & Ireland.

Flag Liaison Officer for UK and REG Flags alongside handful of other Flags based in UK and Ireland; including Bahamas, Ireland, Barbados and St Kitts and Nevis.Responsible for maintaining UK Flag inbox and being key point of contact between DNV and aforementioned Flag States. Attend annual RO meetings and committee meetings. Work alongside DNV Flag State Services Group and closely with Regional Production and Quality Manager to maintain oversight on Flag State matters, changes and work processes.

Key tasks and responsibilities of Senior Fleet in Service Surveyor role include all those listed in Fleet in Service Surveyor role, with additional focus on development of skills and qualification on more specialist surveys and heavier involvement in more complex surveys, i.e. damage surveys. Within this role, I have also attended training towards gaining qualification as an auditor for the International Safety Management (ISM) Code and the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.Continue with responsibilities with some local clients as Technical Service Manager.

Returned to Glasgow as a Fleet in Service Surveyor and continued to build on DNV GL qualifications. Qualified for survey of general cargo vessels, dry cargo vessels (containers, ro-ro’s), oil tankers and offshore service vessels.Other main key responsibility within the Glasgow office was being a Technical Support Manager for local clients. This role encompasses acting as first point of contact for technical matters for specific local clients, regularly meeting with clients and presenting updates to DNV GL system/relevant newsletter/relevant technical matters and actively maintaining an overview of their fleet to ensure smooth day-to-day operation from the Class perspective.

Short term assignment in the Rotterdam Maritime Station as a Fleet in Service Surveyor. Carried out surveys on a large variety of ship types during this period and always busy.

Following the conclusion of the graduate program, returned to Glasgow Maritime Station to continue as a Fleet in Service Surveyor. Main responsibilities included undertaking Class and Statutory surveys of vessels in operation in the Scotland (West) and Northern Ireland area.

Joined DNV in September 2012 as part of an intake of UK graduates over Maritime and Oil & Gas. Alongside the general introduction to DNV, time was divided between three different locations within both Maritime and Oil & Gas.- Fleet in Service Surveyor, Glasgow Maritime (15 months): trainee surveyor in the Glasgow office. Majority of this period was spent attending relevant internal training courses and shadowing experienced surveyors throughout the UK to learn the trade. - Structural Approval Engineer, Oil & Gas, London Approval Centre (3 months): three month period spent in Oil & Gas verification working alongside engineers carrying out third party verification services.- Hull Approval Engineer, Tankers and Dry Cargo (5 months); Special Ships, OSV and Conversions (4 months), Høvik, Norway: joined the maritime newbuild approval team as an approval engineer in the hull approval section. Time was split between two sections to focus on different vessel types. Key activities consisted approval of main class hull drawings and hull equipment.

3 months working in the Marine Research Institute at Samsung Heavy Industries, Geoje-do, South Korea. Tasks included research into the possible development of subsea systems by SHI and motion analysis of a crude oil tanker. Shipyard experience was included in the program, which consisted of shadowing Class Surveyors on block inspections and attendance of a sea trial. Programs utilised throughout the program included SESAM and HydroD to carry out motion analysis.

3 months in 2010 working in the Shock and Dynamics department at BAE Systems Submarine Solutions, Barrow-in-Furness. Tasks included various projects involving the usage of finite element packages; namely Abaqus Patran and CAE; carrying out calculations and producing technical reports.

3 months in 2009 working in the Naval Architecture department. Tasks included 3D modelling of hull forms using both Paramarine and TRIBON, carrying out calculations, conducting research and producing technical reports. Projects were carried out both individually and as part of a team.
