I speak German, English, and French, and now I am learning the language of data. Just as translators enable meaningful discourse between communities, I aspire to translate the power of data into meaningful insights for business stakeholders. Part of learning this new language is my natural desire to embrace challenges along the way and my eagerness to solve difficult problems by looking at them from multiple perspectives. During my undergraduate time at Lenoir-Rhyne University, I was first exposed to the world of data through a Business Analytics class, where I learned about the concepts of artificial intelligence, supervised and unsupervised machine learning, and clustering. The brevity of that class sparked my desire to learn more about the individual topics, prompting me to take an advanced analytics class that taught statistical methods such as regression modeling, logistic regression, decision trees, random forest, and clustering in R.These courses prepared me well for my current studies in data science at the Institute of Advanced Analytics where I will finish with a master’s degree in May 2023. I look forward to expanding my knowledge on topics such as time series, survival analysis, and machine learning, as well as learning Python, SQL, and SAS.Outside of a world full of numerical observations, I enjoy the world in its natural form through walks and hikes. For an extra boost of adrenaline, I like to add to the running tally of national parks, states, and countries I have visited.
