*Cybercrime and Security Awareness* A key theme of a study is that Cybersecurity is about securing businesses and citizens and not simply the government itself. The cost of cybercrime has been shown to be 1 Trillion a year. However, I've found putting a figure on it is inherently difficult being it's not helped by under-reporting and the ignorance of organizations that don't necessarily realize that they have been victims. Cybercrime has remained an unexamined phenomenon as the mindset of society has refused to 'get' we live in an unrealistic bubble we like to call a safe world. Individuals and powerful technology companies underestimate security's importance. Bringing awareness seems to be a way I have found to feed my curiosity of 'how' it's done, not to mention that sweet revenge of elimination. Out of personal experience I will say this: By the time a hacker establishes a foothold as a user with permissions, your network is in serious trouble!The best defense is a good offense.
