I was employed by Cabrini University for 25 years, initially as a Science Department faculty member and department chair, and then as Dean for Retention and Student Success. Following Cabrini's final year of operation in 2024, I returned to my role as faculty and now serve the Delaware County Community College STEM Division.I have been deeply committed to providing students, in both my faculty and administrative roles, with an outstanding education that prepares them to enter their chosen professions or continuing education programs, to be civic-minded leaders, caring and compassionate humans, and life-long learners. I value working at an institution that is mission-centered, where an accessible, quality education for a diverse student population contributes to a transformational educational experience.I have had significant experience designing over 20 unique courses delivered in on-campus and online hybrid formats. My pedagogies have evolved over the years to meet the needs of my students and extensively use case studies, performance tasks, research-based and gaming formats to supplement traditional didactic lectures and labs. My primary teaching responsibilities have been leading the Human Anatomy and Physiology lecture and lab course sequence for biology, health science, and exercise science majors, Biological Sciences, the introductory majors-level biology course sequence, and a wide array of other non-major and major courses. I have an established record of advising excellence, having had the responsibility for advising several hundred biology majors while a full-time faculty member. My advising focus has ranged from supporting students in pre-health professions to serving as the Pre-Medicine Committee chair and Pre-Dental advisor to working with special population students (i.e. transfers from community colleges, dual enrollment high school students). As Dean my advising expanded into working with students identified as at-promise (at-risk financially and/or academically) and were retention risks and those moving through the academic recovery process. The latter work is the subject of my last two scholarly works, a presentation at the 2023 NACADA National Conference and a book chapter.In rounding out my responsibilities as a faculty member and administrator, I have had significant experience as both a member and chair of departmental and University-level committees focusing on curricular design and policy, accreditation, faculty governance and leadership, and retention initiatives.
