As one of the ESRC-NRF Newton Fund postdocs my role will include conducting interviews, analyzing data, writing up results and disseminating the outcomes. I have also set up and will maintain the website - www.urbanenergytransformations.co.za

SA Low Emission Development (USAID funded) project – write a report on project development cycles of low emission development technologies, in order to isolate the barriers to the technologies and identify potential points of leverage. Analysis based on in-depth, semi-structured interviews with project developers, municipal officials, investors and industry associations.

> Focus on the role of developing countries in International Climate Policy. Research and write briefing papers, analysis and journal articles with a focus on India, UNFCCC negotiations, NAMAs, mitigation action implementation and equity. I also co-edited a special issue of the Climate & Development Journal (also published as a book) and co-organised the Development and Mitigation Forum held in January 2014 (www.devmitforum.ercblogs.co.za).

The EGI is a project run by Project 90 by 2030. I redesigned the website/blog (http://www.egi-sa.org.za), provided some training in the use of the website and updated content for nearly 2 years.

>Analysed the UNFCCC's Revised Negotiating Text (RNT) in the run-up to the COP15/CMP5 in Copenhagen for key scientific advisor to the South African delegation; this included a comparative analysis of the RNT and the Africa Group's proposals>Extensive analysis of financial mechanisms proposed in the country submissions to the UNFCCC to assess which of the proposals most beneficial for developing countries>Researched & wrote briefing paper discussing the role of Border Tax Adjustments in addressing competitiveness and 'carbon leakage' concerns; included a comparative analysis of the US Waxman-Markey Bill v the EU's Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS)>Wrote desktop study and analysis of the possible effect of response measures (pursuant to mitigation targets etc.) on the SA coal sector with subsequent presentation of the results to a technical and non-technical audience at DEA Trade and Environment Seminar in October 2009>Contributing author: "Indicators of conditions and readiness to adopt, restart or expand nuclear power programmes" report for the; . Specifically co-wrote the section on Political and Economic indicators>Co-organised the ERC's March 2010 conference, "Putting a price on Carbon">Collaborated in the organisation of a joint exhibition stand (SEI, CSAG & ERC) at Copenhagen COP15

>Design new websites/products/adverts from concept through to go-live>Work with product owners to maintain product templates and consistency.Worked at IOL again between July 2009 – October 2009 (4 months)
