Unitar Climate Change InternEnergy Research Centre, University Of Cape Town Oct 2008 - Mar 2010Cape Town Area, South Africa>Analysed the UNFCCC's Revised Negotiating Text (RNT) in the run-up to the COP15/CMP5 in Copenhagen for key scientific advisor to the South African delegation; this included a comparative analysis of the RNT and the Africa Group's proposals>Extensive analysis of financial mechanisms proposed in the country submissions to the UNFCCC to assess which of the proposals most beneficial for developing countries>Researched & wrote briefing paper discussing the role of Border Tax Adjustments in addressing competitiveness and 'carbon leakage' concerns; included a comparative analysis of the US Waxman-Markey Bill v the EU's Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS)>Wrote desktop study and analysis of the possible effect of response measures (pursuant to mitigation targets etc.) on the SA coal sector with subsequent presentation of the results to a technical and non-technical audience at DEA Trade and Environment Seminar in October 2009>Contributing author: "Indicators of conditions and readiness to adopt, restart or expand nuclear power programmes" report for the; .
