Past assignments include Seoul, Stockholm, Cairo, Baghdad, Kabul, New Delhi and New York. Kim began her career at an English-language newspaper in Moscow. A native of Idaho, she majored in Russian at Bates College and holds a master's degree from the Medill School of Journalism. She was a Knight-Wallace Fellow at the University of Michigan from 2014-15.
