Leads the external & internal communications and stakeholder & Government relations team. This work is cross-departmental as the SCSI seeks to showcase its members’ knowledge in various relevant topics, from Policy & Practice to Ireland’s educational pipeline to enforcing the regulatory standards as Statutory Body.Also responsible for the dedicated and professional teams committed to the operational delivery of membership services. The SCSI’s Events team, which also looks after the delivery of the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programme, runs online, in-house, and external events across Ireland, with over 134 feature events and CPDs (online and in-person) annually. In addition to events, this team is involved with CSR, Sustainability, EDI, and other services provided by the SCSI. The SCSI’s Finance team looks after annual subscriptions and the Registration Body’s annual fee collection. It ensures the effective & efficient running of the membership services provided by SCSI in conformity with our status as a Registered Charitable Organisation. Patrick and the SCSI also look after IT and Facilities operations at 38 Merrion Square. Patrick focuses on ensuring members receive the best service and value from their membership. The SCSI is lucky to have a great community of members that the SCSI’s professional staff look to support and deliver a range of services for them. Developed a new process… Show more Responsibility for Statutory Register of Quantity Surveyors and Building Surveyors under the Building Control Act 2007 and the Professional Body regulation of members. Brought successful outcome reforms through a Statutory Instrument to allow for the widening of the educational institutions recognised under that Building Control Act as the basis for admission to the Statutory Registers and brief the relevant Admission Board on the impact of the changes. Developed a new process in consultation with SCSI legal team to allow for the remote/hybrid hearing process required to regulate professional members during Covid-19 restrictions. The Professional Conduct Committee and Appeals Board for the SCSI’s Professional Body was renewed during my period as Acting Director of Regulation. During this time, both expanded the independent volunteer membership significantly while retaining a high-quality panel.Completed statutory duties of the Registrar through working with 8 Statutory Boards, including the Statutory election process in coordination with Ministerial Appointments. Investigated twelve professional complaints as Director of Regulation under Part 4 – Investigation Process of the Society’s Professional Conduct Rules, Disciplinary Process and Sanctions Policy. Aligned and motivated staff towards an organisation-wide strategic goals with organisational HR responsibility, including reviews, disciplinary, performance improvement and dismissal processes. Represented and presented the Society at Joint Committee meetings of the Oireachtas, Ministerial meetings, sectoral forums, conferences and with the media. Created a highly scalable process for the delivery of education courses, including PSRA CPD for industry regulator. Improved customer relations processes to address delays in member issue resolution, including projects that modernised the process of invoicing and renewal collection via the integration of processes into Dynamics CRM. On Corporate Governance projects, where I led, drafted policies and advised the Company Secretary regarding Board corporate governance, including necessary procedures such as Reserves Policy.
