Bangkok Metropolitan Area, Thailand

Six month contract for EDC, facilitated by Global Affairs Canada. The project, USAID-LMI COMET, works to improve STEM education and promote women in STEM in the Lower Mekong Region. Rigorous monitoring and evaluation is integral to project success as it drives evidence based policy and project design, and informs decision making.- Collected, analyzed and reported data using multi-method quantitative and qualitative strategies - Created visual representations of data and created written/visual reports for project leadership- Identified indicators requiring increased focus to achieve KPI's - Contributed to discussions on ways to increase project impact- Increased proficiency in Excel- Designed a student engagement program and led a committee which provided resources and training students at HCMUTE. These students formed an ongoing student group and executed a successful large scale event. Program was eventually replicated at 5 campuses across 3 countries- Supported other areas of the project including the communications team, the grants team (to ensure all M&E deliverables were submitted and milestones were met as per the grant agreement with each Mekong Learning Center), and the industry partner management team

Belize

In 2018 I returned to Belize to assist Dr. Penados in preparing a report for the Maya Leaders Alliance and Toledo Alcalde’s Association. The report, 'The Future we Dream', is on the vision of development held by Indigenous Maya peoples in Toledo since affirming land rights in international courts. - Facilitated and documented meetings with leaders of the Maya movement, where new economic and governmental systems were evaluated - Collected data on the vision of development held by groups of Maya people representing diverse perspectives within the community, including farmers, cacao producers, medicinal garden stewards, elders, youth, and women. Data was expressed through round table discussions and illustrations- Conducted in-depth research to provide context for the report - Drafted sections of the report

Belize

For four months in 2016, I worked as a research assistant intern for Dr. Filiberto Penados, researching the history and trajectory of education for the Indigenous Maya communities of Belize. Dr. Penados is a prominent Indigenous studies and education scholar, and founder of the Tumul'Kin Centre of Learning. The internship was part of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarship program, through the University of Toronto.- Research duties, such as engaging independently in archival research at the National Archives of Belize and National Heritage Library- Conducted interviews with individuals across the country, followed by analysis and transcription- Worked with key actors in the Maya land rights movement, including members of the Maya Leaders Alliance and Toledo Alcalde's Association- Worked with a committee to organize an Indigenous cultural education summer camp for youth aged 8-12
