Nasa Stennis Space Center

NASA Rocket Propulsion Test Program Office, Stennis Space Center, MS - In his position prior to retirement, Mr. Sharp served as the NASA Executive Coordinator to the National Rocket Propulsion Test Alliance, and NASA’s liaison to the DoD’s rocket propulsion test community. He helps coordinate collaboration initiatives between NASA and the DoD, by applying his unique knowledge of civil and military space priorities and space technologies. His last assignment was in drafting response packages for NASA to the Office of the President, OSTP. He worked the first 12 years of his career as an R&D design engineer for various R&D Agencies. Prior to his present position, Mr. Sharp concluded 7 years as the Manger, NASA Stennis Space Center Office of Technology Transfer, and 5 years in development and administration of Information Technology as Stennis Space Center’s first Chief Information Officer. In both positions, Mr. Sharp frequently set policy standards where none existed, and established program guidelines that continue to have relevance today. He retired with 36 years service in the federal government at the rank of GS-14.

45th Space Wing, Patrick AFB, FL - Colonel Kirk V. Sharp, USAFR (Retired) - His last assignment was as the Senior Individual Mobilization Augmentee (Sr. IMA) to the Commander of the 45th Space Wing. As Sr. IMA, the colonel was responsible for assisting in the planning and execution of the Wing’s space launch mission, by leveraging his military and civil space knowledge on select programs and projects. SMC Space Development and Test Wing, Kirtland AFB, NM, and SMC Space Radar Program, Los Angeles AFB, CA, - (Feb. 2004 – Nov. 2006) Served as the Senior IMA Reservist for four Space Program Offices, and was responsible for standing up a responsive reserve organization within the Space Radar Integrated Program Office. DoD Space Test Program, - (Nov. 2002 – Feb 2004) Served as Senior Technical Advisor, IMA Reserve Officer (Lt. Col.) to the Director, DoD Space Test Program (STP). During 2003, Lt Col Sharp was recalled to duty and served as Deputy Director of the STP. In this job he assists the planning and execution of spacecraft design, integration, launch and operations. Using program management and engineering expertise, he provides DoD STP leaders with sound program and project reviews and process improvement recommendations. Air Force Doctrine Center, Maxwell AFB, AL -- (June 2000 – Nov. 2002) Served as an IMA Reserve Officer (Lt. Col.) and assist the development of Air Force Doctrine. Assignments included Co-author of the Air Force capstone document for Air Force Leadership, AFDD1-3. Lt Col Sharp also served as a development team member on the AFDD2-2 Space Operations doctrine, and AFDD2-2.1 Counterspace doctrine. Air Force Communications Agency, Scott AFB, IL -- (Sept. 98 – June 2000) Served as an IMA Reserve officer (Lt. Col.) in the Global Connectivity Directorate of the AFCA. In this position he provided information technology and tactical systems consultation for the Directorate Chief.
