I am very pleased to do what I love to do best, technical communications, for the Auto/Steel Partnership. An amazing consortium of automakers, steel companies and automotive suppliers, they leverage their combined experience and know-how to address automotive manufacturing issues, solving them with innovation. I am providing technical communications support in a variety of ways, from writing to social media.

After working at Hill & Knowlton for a while and then at a local Detroit agency, I decided that I'd really like to try my hand at working for myself. By 2005, I was 100% contracting my writing and communications consulting skills. I have been truly fortunate in finding long-term clients who are great to work with, and who send me all over the world to meet with them. As a contractor, I have worked for the global steel industry as well as U.S. industry, participating in branding and key message development, recommending strategies that are practical and that work. I have developed a team of communications and marketing professionals, who like me, are senior-level marketing and communications professionals, offering a variety of skills sets that compliment my own. As a result, I am able to provide full range of agency services without charging agency prices.

I spent over two decades on a great ride with steel engineers as they have been developing steel body structures using a new lightweighting material called advanced high-strength steel.I've had the privilege of working on many projects as the technical writer and communications strategist, identifying the messages that will appeal to the intended audiences, creating communications campaigns based on the reported results from the technical staff, working with engineering firms such as Porsche Engineering Services, EDAG International, University of Paderborn (Germany), fka (Germany), University of Michigan, University of California, IPK Fraunhofer Institute (Germany), and many others. In this role, I have had the incredible privilege of learning from some of the best minds and experts in the world.One of the projects was FutureSteelVehicle, which developed body structures for electrified vehicles. FutureSteelVehicle provide solutions to auto engineers for lightweight steel components, and demonstrates steel’s ability to flex with any challenge thrown at it. I am also the editor of worldautosteel.org and ahssinsights.org and very involved in the strategy and implementation of the organizations global communications. Living Steel promoted sustainable residential construction in steel. It was a five-year program of the World Steel Association, incepted in 2004. My responsibilities as contractor included:* Weekly updates of Living Steel's e-zine site, and its five languages, with each language site specific to its own marketplace.* Writing many articles on steel housing projects all over the world, which was great fun. Nothing like talking to an architect about his/her project. They are so passionate!* Participating in the group’s member meetings, providing strategy and communications consulting support to their communications team.* Coordinating the content from contributing journalists and translators.* Coordinating and writing an English-language quarterly newsletter.

Flowcharted software functionality from a user's perspective, providing programmers with a set of actions and expected responses. Also supported automotive and other clients with their communications needs. Served key client, WorldAutoSteel, during this time as well.
