My focus was to utilize hight-throughput sequencing methods to identify novel DNA variants and characterize these to define the defects they might cause in the insulin signaling pathway. This work identified the disease-causing mutation in individuals with SHORT syndrome.

Ronald Kahn I studied the p85 alpha protein which is a regulatory subunit of the PI 3 kinase. My focus was to study its role in insulin resistance in individuals with SHORT-syndrome. The work has identified that mutations in p85 alpha is involved in the development of SHORT-syndrome.
