Krystal has always been one to go after what she wants and not give up until it is accomplished. However, life sometimes got in the way of that happening smoothly.As a woman that knows what it feels like to be behind bars, dressed out, and in confinement for weeks and months at a time, having repeatedly not been informed on what the process involved with booking was, all the while not knowing how to make the nightmare stop and what to expect once reentered into society, she is passionate about ensuring that once the chains are broken from bondage wrists, they remain that way. Along with standing aside her husband, a parent, sibling, cousins, and more that have been incarcerated, she finds her purpose is served best in helping break the vicious cycle of recidivism. Led by God to interview for a position with 2nd Opportunity turned out to be the best thing for Krystal’s career. She is fulfilled by helping as many people as she can by providing re-entry resources to those that have been incarcerated. 2nd Opportunity offers tools, courses, resources, and support that transform lives for people who are struggling with incarceration, trauma, loss, addiction, and other insurmountable obstacles. We believe that the abilities acquired through 2nd Opportunity are an essential component of successful recovery and reentry, and this organization was founded on an understanding that can only be gained through actual experience.
