After working as Business Intelligence Manager for two-and-a-half years, I was appointed as Product Manager within Hatch. My task is to translate functional descriptions from business to technical requirements, but also to explain technical descriptions in easy language for business to understand. I work closely with the IT team, who works Agile and applies the Scrum methode.I’m responsible for the roadmap, managing the backlog in JIRA and act as a Product Owner for all products, one of which is the Dashboard, which I have functionally designed. Capturing new requirements, managing sprints and releases, distributing tasks to developers, documenting functionalities and optimizing the Dashboard are part of my daily activities.

Hatch connects manufacturers with online retailers. A click from a manufacturers’ product page towards an online retailer is considered a lead. Whenever these leads proceed to purchase a product at the online retailer, Hatch will capture it and report this sale back to the manufacturer. My role as Business Intelligence Manager at Hatch is to analyze and report the captured leads and sales and provide consultancy based on the data we have. I also decide how to translate the numbers and figures into actionable insights our clients (the manufacturers) can use to improve their web performance.Currently I am also streamlining the data that is being recorded. Hatch collects data from more than 1.500 online retailers and the way of providing data might differ per retailer. Finding algorithm to store these data in a clean way is one of my day-to-day activities at Hatch.

As an Operations Director at DMA Institute I managed a team of 6 people. The operations team was getting requests from clients such as media agencies, large online advertisers, online publishers and research bureaus. My job here was to make sure every campaign gets the attention it needs and make sure all processes run as smoothly as possible. After each of these campaigns, the operations team create reports based on the data gathered and provide actionable insights for clients with the purpose of improving the results of the campaigns. Reviewing these reports and presenting it to the client was part of the job as Operations Director. Occasionally I had to present the benefits of measuring a campaign with DMA Institute to potential new clients.

At DMA Institute the product manager is called the DMA Lead. Shortly after DMA Institute decided to focus mainly on their core product, measuring visibility of online banners, I was asked to manage this product. Due to my research background at MeMo2 I had experience of how to justify the data being shown in the dashboard. I was also used as a sparring partner to the CTO to discuss what KPI’s should be shown in the dashboard and how it should be shown. Capturing client requests and explain these request to the developers were also part of my job.

Having functioned as a parttime online trafficker for Hottraffic, I eventually moved to fulltime employee of Hottraffic. During my time as digital campaign manager, the services of Hottraffic was planning strategies for online campaigns, managing the Google Adwords HR campaigns of Stedin and Eneco, creating dynamic banners and measuring visibility of online campaigns. This later service would eventually be the only service Hottraffic was going to focus on. Also the name of the company has been switched to DMA Institute to have a more corporate identity.

When I started working for Hottraffic, I had a hybrid role. I was still doing researches for MeMo2, but to keep me challenged, Hottraffic asked me to fulfill a role as an online trafficker. During these 11 months I was partly working for MeMo2and partly working for Hottraffic. As an online trafficker I was the one who was putting campaigns online using Mediamind (now Sizmek) as the main admanagement system. Later other clients wanted to have their campaign served in other admanagement systems such as Doubleclick (DFA), Atlas and Adform.

Right after my thesis on the effect of sportsponsoring I was offered a job at MeMo2. At MeMo2 I was mainly doing researches, albeit various kinds of researches. They have their own panel where they send their questionnaires to, so the media consultant was responsible for the whole process which includes: the briefing, creating the questionnaire, sending out the invites, collecting the data and analyzing the data. When creating the questionnaire I was always interested in how to do this in a more creative and innovative way by using HTML and JavaScript. I learned this from the CTO of Hottraffic, who eventually asked me to join them.
