Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:- Departmental engineering responsibility. Overseeing all process and equipment operational performance. Direct responsibility for product cost and quality- Work-cell design and optimization- Facility design utilizing Solidworks for design and concept visualization through implementation- Work standard development, process standard and documentation control- Time and motion studies with a focus on safety and waste elimination of non-value added process steps- Development and implementation of improvements related to safety, quality, service, and cost (productivity)- Development and implementation of cross-functional projects, plans, and programs in support of business and strategic plans new process start-ups, new process technology integration, aggressive cost reduction, and supply chain improvement using Lean Six Sigma - Communicating project direction and status to appropriate personnel- Participating in relevant corporate programs/initiatives, complying with professional standards, quality standards, with corporate policies and procedures, and acting in a manner consistent with 3M’s values and ethical standards- Performing root cause analysis and apply systematic problem solving skills- Utilizing DMAIC problem solving Methodology to create step change improvement

O2s have the opportunity to interact and network with senior leadership to make a real impact to one of our manufacturing facilities.Job Summary:The Optimized Operations (O2) Engineer's role is to acquire general knowledge and understanding quickly and successfully by running a series of focused projects within the 3M manufacturing and supply chain environment.Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:- Participating in extensive training such as Lean Six Sigma, project management and leadership development, enabling them to be placed into a manufacturing location with enhanced ability to contribute quickly to process improvements that assist the entire supply chain.- Providing leadership on assigned projects with mentoring to develop proficiency using established methods, practices, and concepts that are heavily weighted by Six Sigma methodology and focused on Lean Manufacturing Principles.

Process Engineering resource for national operational improvement projects. Successfully defined, designed, and led numerous projects and initiatives with significant results and substantial ROI. Projects included packaging/filling improvements, cellular manufacturing, Lean six sigma initiatives, and capital projects.Streamlined lean metric tracking system, increased stakeholder buy-in, and reduced labor required for data acquisitionImplemented U-cell workstation layout, reduced Work In Process inventory.Designed, built, and installed filling machine, increased equipment up-time.

- Served in a process engineering role under the umbrella of the quality engineering department. Worked closely with floor personnel to train and develop knowledge and skill in their respective functional areas. Applied system level approach to work towards solution of complex system definition and identification of key process parameters. Successfully designed in line automation solution including but not limited to ladder logic creation, material sourcing, design, and fabrication.- Analyzed current material substitution effects on product quality losses, halted substitution of materials responsible for quality related losses.- Administered process compliance audits, worked with crews to reduce department related losses.- Utilized statistical methods to assess equipment capability, system found to be in-capable. Capable system was implemented, reduced scrap rate.- Integrated visual measurement system, non-conforming material making it to production.
