My role at Ample Organics put me in a unique place of learning and taught me more about the cannabis industry than I could have imagined. I worked at Ample Organics in the months leading up to, during, and following cannabis legalization in Canada, and have great insight into the successes and shortcomings that came along with this historic event. As a technical writer, I helped maintain the Ample Organics Knowledge Base. This involved creating new help articles and up-dating existing ones as needed. I also created release guides and notes, along with other ad-hoc documentation tasks. In addition, I helped build the curriculum and content for a new Learning Management System (LMS). I effectively owned this project, creating an in-depth training platform that covered everything from the anatomy of cannabis and the detailed history of regulations in Canada, to the inner-workings of tracking cannabis production and processing within a licensed facility.Below is a list of my noteworthy endeavours at Ample Organics and the cannabis space in general:• implemented and maintained the Ample Organics Knowledge Base• wrote original scripts for training videos to be used in the LMS• created assessments and supplemental material for the LMS• was highly involved in the overall creation and development of the LMS• researched and wrote general educational materials for the cannabis industry• studied, compared, and contrasted the MMAR, MMPR, ACMPR, and The Cannabis Act• created release notes and related documentation for product updates• presented my work at a meetup for documentarians in Toronto• attended over a dozen cannabis conferences, meetups, and other networking events• visited and toured an LP's facility, gaining a rare look into its operations and SOPs

This multidisciplinary role required me to wear many hats. From instructional design, to technical writing, to customer service, I was a go-to employee in the office. I ran the training department and managed a team of ten remote trainers. I created and orchestrated technical product training and best practices to educators across the continent. I worked with different internal teams to ensure varied training needs were met and satisfied. I also communicated our training options to clients, and actively collected feedback on the training in order to adapt content and delivery accordingly. Part of this feedback collection led me to the decision to re- place live webinar training sessions with quick, fresh video recordings, an option that proved to be far less expensive and more convenient.Below were some of my noteworthy duties and accomplishments:• created original training content• communicated our training options effectively to clients• liaised with clients to discuss training and gather feedback• met with internal teams to ensure client needs were being met• created internal help pages for employees in Confluence• maintained constant communication with our team of trainers• managed training schedules, delegated hosting duties, and posted sessions online• assisted in the creation of pages in our knowledge base• contributed as a vital member of a cross-functional team to build out future training plans
