In addition to attending many professional development workshops, I have also conducted my own classes for educators, with the predominant focus being on technology in the classroom.After 16 years of teaching (1996-2012), I've decided to move into the tech industry as a front-end web developer. I currently work for a digital advertising firm, MoreVisibility, and their enthusiasm for providing quality web services for businesses is inspiring. Previously, I worked with a great team at UAIC; we deployed web applications that streamlined business operations for both insurance agents as well as customers. I believe that success is doing what you love. Since a majority of time is spent working, a significant part of a successful life is doing things that inspire passion. The trick is to align these desires with a career that pays well and contributes positively to society.For fifteen years, teaching provided this unique combination; I enjoyed the material I was delivering and helping students became an intrinsic reward. As I transitioned to the web design field, I discovered a new internal reward: programming. Learning code is limitless plus it combines art with a cerebral challenge.My keys strengths are my desire to help others and my perseverance to see a project to completion. Helping others is rewarding, whether it’s teaching someone a new concept or showing them a better way to accomplish something. Seeing a project to the end, especially a complex one, also provides satisfaction. Overcoming obstacles leads to new knowledge, and the confidence gained from solving problems is cumulative.
