While at BCM, Kojo would read about the different paths medical professionals can take in order to support NASA's mission of human spaceflight and research. During Kojo's collegiate years his passion for space exploration propelled him into an unfamiliar space where he had the opportunity to serve as the Vice-Chair Board of Directors for Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS-USA), which is the largest student-run, STEM organization in the world. An independent pilot comparative analysis research study assessed the posture and muscle activity in trumpet players using motion capture and electromyography. We successfully resulted in a submitted abstract to the Performance Arts Medicine Association (PAMA).The software operated in the study was Cortex which visualizes spinal differences between marching band performances and concert band performances. Unique methodology to isolate muscle groups activated during both situations to pinpoint how posture can affect plain levels.
