Head Of Ux & Release Process ManagementFadata Group Jan 2019 - Jan 2020SofiaBeing trained in UX and with user-centric mindset helped me a lot to be effective a release manager myself, thus quickly formalizing the processes and workflows and being empathetic and supportive to the pain points of different sub-teams in the company. As a release manager I coordinated the work of about 80 people (UX, dev and QA) and had to provide strong leadership and influential skills in order for the team to introduce and adopt new more structured and more efficient work patterns.Areas of focus:- Redefined and implemented software production and release processes in the company- Switching company production from traditional waterfall to an agile approach. Defined and implemented an optimized Scrumban methodology.- Organization of end to end release process starting from release inception, feature prioritization and development, testing, CI/CD configuration and up to release time marketing activities. - Automation and tooling - rework of types, schemes and workflows in Jira and Bamboo, organization of testing and deployment environments, software and documentation bundling, etc. - Communication and coordination of release activities at all levels in company -
Ux Product ArchitectFadata Group 2017 - Dec 2018SofiaRedefined the informational architecture of INSIS so that it becomes user/task oriented and more straightforward. Completely reworked Claims and Billing modules so that the new simplified workflows can speed up user time and eliminate the burdens that users previously faced. In early 2018 I had to take some management roles, and besides being the designer I also had to manage the production of the new features (product owner and dev manager). The overall team consisted of about 20 people (UI devs, backend and DB devs, QAs). I managed the project till the end of 2018, while in parallel I continued doing major designs for the new features. Areas of focus: usable structure and information architecture, user-centric design and operations, consistent and accesible visual scheme, improved workflows and functional usability. -
Staff Interaction DesignerVmware Jul 2015 - May 2017SofiaBecame a lead designer of various products within the Storage and Availability BU. My main responsibilities were in the area of data protection and leading the UX of the most important and feature rich product of the BU - vSAN, which the company offering in the HCI market.Products & Features - vSAN Data Protection, vSAN Encryption, vSAN Health, vSphere Replication (VR), Unified Data Manager (UDM), Site Recovery Manager (SRM) -
Senior Ux - Interaction DesignerVmware Jan 2014 - Jul 2015SofiaInterests for learning more about UX made me switch to technical position (interaction designer) within the local UX team. During the period I was responsible for the design of critical company projects like:- Support Assistant - UX for a small product which helps customers file support tickets- Phone Home - we built a mid-size product focused on gathering data from the various field deployments which is futher analyzed in-house and proactively pushed to customers in an attempt to prevent common misconfigurations and errors. - Site Recovery Manager (SRM) - I was responsible for improvement and maintenance of a big and mature product for disaster recovery (DR) which had won multiple prizes over the years. - vSphere Replication - I joined immediately after the initial release of a mid-size product for replication of data across sites. My goals were to streamline the workflows and generally improve the UX. -
R&D Manager, Ux ManagerVmware Oct 2011 - Jan 2014SofiaAs of 2011 in parallel to the R&D management, I undertook an opportunity to build a UX team based in Sofia. For the next 6 years (3 formally as manager and 3 informally as most senior member) I did a lot of recruiting, interviewing and evangelizing at conferences in order to find the best of breed of UX designers to join the team. The design team grew and stayed at about 4-5 people, and was fully capable to support the work on all product features, which were developed by the main R&D team. Biggest challenge for the period was to build a local team of UX interaction designers at a time when UX and especially interaction design was not much popular in Bulgaria. Team was successfully established and quickly became a go-to point within the Sofia office. Work was mostly related to the biggest and most important UI product of the company - the vSphere Web Client. As part of the efforts to establish and promote the team I had to learn a lot about UX myself. As a side activity I delivered presentations on UX at Sofia UX conference. -
R&D ManagerVmware Jan 2009 - Jan 2014SofiaStarting from 2009 I joined a team of about 50 people (developers and automation QAs), which by 2014 grew to about 90 people. Throughout this period I was the direct manager of about 20% of the people (i.e. 10 to 15 employees), and my duties included biweekly 1-1 meetings for feedback and career development, regular team meetings, employee goal setting and performance evaluation, building and maintenance of development plans, etc. Besides pure management duties, my main responsibilities in the owned functional domains required me to communicate on a daily basis with many other teams, across geographical locations and time zones, and along various chains of command. Over time my proactiveness, passion and energy for the work, protectiveness for the team, influential and leadership skills were well recognized, reaching a point in 2013 where I functionally owned most of the new feature development in the UI and became the functional manager of over 70 people working on the release (dev, QA and UX). -
Team Lead, Senior Member Of Technical StaffVmware Oct 2007 - Dec 2008SofiaIn 2007 I led development of the front end of VMware Update Manager (VUM), which over time VUM became highly adopted product - over 70% of VMware customers use it regularly for patching and upgrading their systems.I started as a technical lead of a team of 3-5 people (software developers), coordinating daily activities and within a year I officially switched to management position. VMware had a formal training program for new managers, thus I had the chance to complete multiple courses on people management, effective communication, leadership and influential skills, project management, etc. With this I already had solid basis to pursue a career in the management profession. -
