Jet-Steel Oy aims to be the best mid-scale stainless steel fabricator in Finland - to our clients and also to our personnel.That is our long term goal and after five years, I'm sure we are on the right path. This path consist of lots of investments in personnel, equipment and facility: new salary and bonus system, flexitime, lighting, chance of workshop layouts, better methods of leadership, new softwares, new welding equipment, lots of new lifting equipment, lots of new storage systems, environmental friendly energy, clarifying carbon footprint, more comfortable and better ppe, investments in pickling facility, and much more!

I was part of a white liquor plant product management team. We developed equipment and products to be more manufacturing-friendly. I took part in solving corrosion issues and developed a versatile tool for assuring quality of designing. I did some expediting (production and quality control) of different equipment in several workshops in Finland and abroad. In addition I took part in condition monitoring of white liquor plant equipment in pulp- and paper mills.

My job includes pretty much everything, which keeps work shop in operation, for example:- managing the production schedule - quality management- estimating cost efficiency- monitoring and development of production processes e.g. plasma-arc cutting, bending, welding, pickling- making of welding specification procedures- estimating the need for subcontracting- development of the overall actions (continuous improvement)- ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 3834

Topic of my thesis was Modern Metallic Materials for Arctic Environment.Thesis was part of the Arctic Materials Technologies Development –project, which aims to research and develop manufacturing techniques, especially welding, for Arctic areas. The main target of my part was to clarify what kind of European metallic materials are used, or can be used, in Arctic. Used materials include mainly carbon steels but also stainless steels and aluminium and its alloys.

Job included teaching of different welding techniques and welding technology in theory and most techniques also in practice (MIG/MAG, TIG, SAW, plasma, stud welding, friction welding, gas welding, resistance welding...)

Tasks were versatile, but mainly I was responsible for:- material purchasing- calculate and compile offers- evaluating work methods for different products- developing different working methods- casually act as site manager

- bending, cutting, shaping of stainless and aluminium sheet metal parts- MIG/MAG, TIG and plasma welding of stainless and aluminium sheet metal products- casually act as plasma-arc cutting operator- installing different kind of industrial products e.g. ventilation, HR-systems, blowers & fans (in Finland and abroad)

Maintenance of paper mill, for example:- changing belts of blowers- changing different kind of bearings- changing different kind of filters
