I was responsible for ensuring that the appropriate steps were taken in the response to incidents. I was also responsible for handling administrative functions from scheduling to discipline for the officers in my control. While a member of the St. John Sheriff's office I was also a member of the department honor guard and a member of the special operations response team (SORT). As a SORT team member I was assigned to the entry team and later was one of two original snipers assigned to the team. I wrote the departmental policy for the sniper element for the SORT team. I was the Vice-President of the St. John Crime fighters which is a nonprofit organization made up of members of the department which does community service projects for the community and also the members of the department.

Upon my promotion to the rank of Corporal I was assigned to also work as a Desk Sergeant with responsibility to ensure calls for service were handled in accordance with established policies and procedures. I was also responsible for ensuring the correctness of written reports.
