About Steve Kowalewski

Throughout my 24 years of military service, I have acquired a proven ability to advance organizational vision through clear-cut strategies, unorthodox approaches to unconventional problems, and dynamic team building. I possess extensive combat, advisory, and liaison experience across diverse global regions. I am motivated to achieve tactical, operational, and strategic results.I have managed personnel and directed operations in coordination with various federal agencies, Department of State (DoS) officials, coalition partners, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and the private sector. I have versatility through numerous assignments, from teambuilding programs to instituting personnel manuals, Department of Defense (DoD) plans, and professional development reports. Continuous learning and adaptability are my drive to success. As a father, husband, mentor, force multiplier, combat zone diplomat, and problem solver under pressure, I strive to maintain a level-headed demeanor. I aim to inspire tenacity and perseverance in others, helping them identify challenges, find solutions, and keep moving forward. My How. I think things through. I use reason to make sense of whatever is going on in my life; I am described as a no-nonsense thinker who is discrete and respectful. I am fascinated by the “written word” in all forms; as a lifelong learner, it all intrigues me. I focus on Solutions. I work toward clearly defined goals that make a meaningful difference. I use my ability to determine what is and is not quality work to mentor others to find solutions with practical benefits. I adapt and overcome by approaching tasks realistically; I want others to see me as reliable and steady. I address personal shortcomings by confronting them; I aim to minimize or eliminate them. I excel in roles that leverage my ability to think ahead, focus on what’s practical, and fix what’s broken.I am transitioning to the private sector and as my short-term objective, I’m examining opportunities in the Greater Tampa Bay Area, with alternate locations in the Raleigh/Asheville, NC, areas, and eventually abroad, with primary focus on Europe, as beyond-the-horizon targets. I am considering Security/Defense Industries (i.e., Personnel Recovery, Crisis Response, etc.), Non-profits of interest (serving veterans, Disaster Relief, and/or Search and Rescue), Technology Industry (namely in Training and Development), and/or Media Industry.
