Over the past several years, worked with three large Higher Education clients to successfully lead & perform PeopleSoft 9.2 Grants cleanup, project close-outs, Business Process changes, and AR reconciliations. Conducted post implementation support for a Research Foundation after a PeopleSoft 9.2 upgrade. Jim is extremely knowledgeable across both the Accounting and Information Technology sides of problem solving.

Finished a 3+ year engagement at Emory University where we closed down over 8,500 open but expired projects in the PeopleSoft Grants system.These were the difficult, problem projects which had technical, accounting, or policy issues which prevented their close-out. I'm currently looking for my next engagement/project in Research Accounting or in Information Technology implementations or support.

Emory University, Atlanta Georgia

Working with Emory University, a major, private Southeastern University / Academic Medical Center to close down problem research grants. Created a robust methodology using PeopleSoft Queries, SQRs, and spreadsheet capability to close down over 8,500 projects, Problems resolved were bad system conversion issues, technical problems preventing close outs, data without chartfields, deficit spending, refunds, residual transfers, and correcting /updating financial reports for Letter of Credit, Scheduled Payments, Cost Reimbursable Non-Letter of Credit, and Clinical Trials. Trained all consultants on our financial reconciliation / close out methodology and automated the weekly creation of our master files by developing a "mini module" within the PeopleSoft application.

- Managed a PeopleSoft data cleanup and billing process improvement engagement for University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). Technical system fixes, recreating and reconciling accounting data, and business process recommendations were implemented. Overall significant change management recommendations to be addressed in the future- Conducted an IT controls/security assessment for MICA, a nationally ranked arts college. Assessed the effectiveness of current system access controls and identified weaknesses in policies, procedures, and business processes for the PeopleSoft financial and campus solutions systems. Areas assessed included 1). System Access, 2). Identity and Access Management, and 3). Information Assurance (Disaster Recovery and Physical Environment)

- Project Manager for 10 concurrent projects to help a large Academic Medical Center transition their Post Award Research organization from an outsourced model to an in-house supported structure- Created automated business processes for Core Research Recharge Centers (Flow Cytometry, Genomics, Microscopy, Biobehavioral, and Imaging) improving charge capture, journal entry, and reporting to PI's and management.- Project Manager for a PeopleSoft Grants Management optimization engagement for a prestigious academic medical center automating research grants invoicing process, fixing OLT and write-off functionality, streamlining contract types, updating system job scheduling, and improving Project Life Cycle system processes.- Project Manager for a 20+ FTE Global Contract Research Organization (Pharmaceutical Drug Studies) performing business process redesign and improvement in Finance, HR/Payroll, Supply Chain, and Change Management

- Lead Project Manager of a 20+ member team for Lawson ERP implementation of Finance, Supply Chain, and HR/Payroll applications for a $7 Billion multi-state, 70+ facility healthcare organization. Was able to help jump start project after repeated delays and successfully led client through the National and Pilot go-lives- Redesigned business processes and identified/documented internal controls (Sarbanes/Oxley) for Finance, Procurement, and HR/Payroll systems which previously were audit weaknesses at this same $7 Billion organization- Project Manager for Accounts Payable Shared Services implementation for a $4 Billion multi-state healthcare organization. Responsible for entire project from concept, design, technology, acquisition, staff hiring and roll-on, and opening of facility - Project Manager for an accelerated project establishing the “auditability” of 93 interfaces into the SAP system for a global telecommunications company to help client emerge from the largest bankruptcy filing in history. Led client through design of program changes, unit testing, integrated testing, and go live in eight weeks- Co-authored Deloitte’s "Shared Services in the Provider Healthcare Industry" point of view- Project advisor for PeopleSoft to Ceridian Payroll outsourcing for a leading food corporation- Accounts Payable lead for Shared Services implementation for HCA (the largest “For-Profit” hospital company, 187 hospitals, 30+ physician practices, 30+ Ambulatory Surgery Centers). Responsible for all client deliverables, project management, work plan development, issue identification / resolution, client and team status communications, process redesign, and researching IT related issues- Conducted an ERP Post Implementation Review of the Lawson Financial systems of a major maritime shipping company to suport the annual financial audit- Responsible for developing over 14 proposals in the Healthcare, Financial Services, and Public Sector industries

- Developed business requirements and technical specifications for a start up company which was building a web based product for the hospitality industry- Facilitated client design workshops to compress development schedule allowing for the inclusion of additional features and functionality- Reviewed internal billing system problems and provided recommendations- Performed audit on Lawson HR/PR implementation to ensure readiness for Go-Live
