I'm a Public Policy Director at the American Petroleum Institute and am located in Newark, DE. The American Petroleum Institute is the largest U.S. trade association for the oil and natural gas industry. It represents nearly 600 corporations involved in production, refinement, distribution, and many other aspects of the petroleum industry. My position requires advanced issue management for all air, water, waste, health, sustainability, safety, climate, and product stewardship concerns within the refining industry. In order to be successful, I work with senior member company representatives to identify advocacy opportunities, brief lobbyists in Congress, consult with legal counsel on regulatory compliance concerns, contract with technical experts for scientific research, and draft public comments for Federal agencies, all while managing a team of senior policy advisors that each lead a large swath of issue focus groups. I am a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University’s H. John Heinz III College, where I earned a Master of Science in Public Policy and Management with an emphasis on energy & environmental policy. I bring an international perspective to my work, having served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Romania . I am also certified as a Project Manager by George Washington University.Always interested in opportunities to learn or grow - you can contact me at kpetka@gmail.com
