In this role, I develop and own system models that are capable of predicting transient performance of a concentrated solar power system and its components, such as a sCO2 power cycle. These system models are used to inform product design requirements and calculate system performance when performing trade studies. The platform used, Modelon, is a commercial implementation of Modelica and is capable of simulating not only physical equipment but also cyber flows of information and their interactions.Heliogen is a clean energy company focused on eliminating the need for fossil fuels in all sectors of the economy. Summer 2020-Redesigned the SDM core bootcamp program from an in-person format to a completely virtual format. The end result introduced the students to systems thinking while fostering a spirit of collaboration, based on principles from improvisational comedy. -Analyzed student participation and performance data across multiple dimensions for the SDM core for the previous year. Identified potential biases in student participation rates and recommended corrective actions.Fall 2020-Mentor and guide 3 teams of 4 students each through the introductory SDM core class (Foundations of System Design and Management).IAP/Spring 2021- Mentor and guide 2 teams of 4 students each through the final element of the SDM core class progression, the Spring projects. In this role, I supervised two teams - one was working with Shell TechWorks to design a system to process waste plastics into circular plastics, and another was working with IHI to design a system using methane pyrolysis technology.
