In my thesis, I use NPV to compare the conventional "build large" approach and a proposed "build modular" approach to a Gen3 solar tower CSP plant using both deteministic and stochastic inputs. Using stochastic inputs, the "build modular" approach is preferred over the "build large" approach, with emphasis on how flexibility and learning rate affect the performance of the "build modular" approach.
