Interested in surgery, medical ethics, and developing across all areas.Dr Chall obtained his primary medical qualification from the University of Birmingham Medical School in 2024. He was an active member of his community and involved in various medical societies, such as debate society and UBMS football. Throughout his studies he has delivered educational opportunities to other students. In third year, he sat the on Birmingham Widening Participation to Medical Sciences (BWAMS) society committee as outreach officer, the year they won the Charity of the Year away (20/21) for their work, part of which was developing and delivering the Dr.eam Medicine programme. This successful project Kramer helped guide has research which was presented at conference. In fourth year, as head of Vascular surgery for Birmingham Surgical Society, Dr Chall organised several talks from RCSEd leaders and engagement opportunities for students. Over his penultimate and final year, he worked as Senior Education Lead at the Institute of Medical Ethics, Student Council, and pioneered the development and delivery of a new podcast series. Dr Chall completed his intercalated bachelors degree at King’s College London, reading Anatomy, Developmental and Human Biology. He undertook modules focused on advanced human anatomy, clinical anatomy, surgical sciences, biomedical philosophy, and ethics. He received an award from the Royal College of Surgeons England for his dissertation research, conducted at University College London Hospitals. Having thoroughly engaged with the programme, Kramer received a First Class Honours in this degree.Dr Chall has published work in the British Medical Journal, and presented his research at the Association of Anaesthetists Conference. He has experience mentoring medical students and prospective doctors, and has articles published on the Medic Portal.

Completing my Foundation years at the Prestigious Queen Elizabeth II Hospital Birmingham. This tertiary centre boasts the largest critical care facility in Europe, the headquarters for the Royal College of Defence Medicine, and is a major trauma centre for civilian and military casualties. Elected Outreach Officer for the Birmingham Widening Access to Medicine Society Committee 2020/22. We are a student-led society at the University of Birmingham. Our aim is to widen participation in medicine and other healthcare degrees. Our work involves increasing awareness and supporting applications to healthcare degrees from young achievers in state schools. “20% of secondary schools in the UK provide 80% of all applicants to medicine” - Medical Schools Council, Selecting for Excellence. The BWAMS target demographic are often academically able to excel but lack the motivation, confidence or knowledge to apply. As an Outreach officer, I support the society and University in providing community education and support. I am involved in organising events for students such as lectures, talks and lessons. I also recruit volunteers within the medical school to undertake outreach tasks.Our committees success, despite the challenges of the pandemic, was recognised by the Birmingham Medical Society as we received the Charity of the Year Award 2021/22.

We are conducting qualitative research, evaluating the Walsall Trust response to COVID-19. In our project we aim to assess patient and staff (acute + community) experiences to produce an overview of the response and recommendations to be used in future planning.
