Following graduation, I began my Physical Therapist Assistant career here. Partnering closely with the Physical Therapist, I executed the ongoing plan of care treatment for clients. My work included research-based therapies to support orthopedic rehabilitation, work-related injuries, sports injuries, and various neuromuscular and neurological conditions. I employed a variety of modalities, including e-stim, cryotherapy, thermotherapy, and STM. With a focus on patient education and safety, I led clients through their levels of care to completion. A large part of my role entailed building relationships, listening to concerns, and motivating patient engagement. When needed, I created comprehensive home exercise programs with training on proper form. ► Through customized care plans, I improved patient outcomes. One such patient was a long-term, chronic pain patient. I was able to discharge her after 2-months of care by employing new treatments and taking a consultative approach to resolving her pain.► To grow the business, I launched a social media presence on Instagram to increase brand awareness and attract new patients. ► I mentored future PT/PTA students through shadowing opportunities with local schools.

This clinical practicum was designed to provide exposure to working with outpatient clients while learning best practice time management tactics related to documentation and patient care. Here I utilized a variety of modalities like ultrasound, TENS, Russian e-stim, NMES, cryotherapy, thermotherapy, STM, and IASTM. I was able to observe joint mobilization and related manual therapies. I acquired insight into best practices to engage patients in their own home exercise regimens to accelerate healing.

Gaining hands-on experience in my field of choice, I worked directly with inpatient clients under the direct supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant to provide plan of care treatment. Assisting with in-bed mobility, proper ambulation, managing assisted devices, correct posture, controlled movement through exercise, and the creation of home exercise programs. I observed patients while documenting activity and changes. At times, I performed co-treatments with a licensed Occupational Therapist. At the end of the day, my role was to help patients achieve health goals in order to be discharged home.

Leveraging my medical office management experience, I moved into home healthcare. In this role, I was responsible for a wide range of tasks across the Human Resources department to include payroll, benefits administration, compliance, and accounts payable. I supported 800+ employees across 5 branches. My biggest accomplishment here was turning around the administrative function. I quickly identified opportunities to streamline processes and create efficiencies. With a lack of consistency, the team had experienced a decline in productivity. I served as the first line of defense to answer questions, motivate team members, and resolve daily challenges. ► I saved $1M in incorrectly applied back owed funds through proactive research and attention to detail. Working closely with the CFO, I tracked the company debt and re-filed all tax documents for the 3-years prior to my arrival. ► Enhancing transparency and company communication, I standardized processes, defined best practices, established regular meetings, and distributed reporting.► I influenced the creation of an Assistant role to boost productivity. Leading the interview process from start to finish, I selected a top-performing candidate to join the team.

Gaining hands-on experience in the medical field, I started in the front office working directly with patients. Managing high-volume locations, I answered phones, oversaw scheduling, and maintained confidential medical records for multi-physician offices within pediatrics, private practice, and urgent care settings. Not only did I hone my customer service skills, but I also transitioned into direct patient care. Working with a senior living facility, I assisted residents with daily hygiene needs, meal prep, and general support. This became the foundation for my choice to pursue physical therapy as a career.
