• Curriculum Alignment: Collaborate with staff to integrate information literacy skills with the curriculum using the Georgia Standards of Excellence and Performance Standards. Use student benchmark data and other assessments to focus instruction.• Teaching: Selected Big Creek Teacher of the Year in 2012. Teach project-based technology classes for grades K-5. Focus on digital literacy and state-of-the-art technology to meet the needs of an interconnected world.• Technology: Employ and promote the use of technology to achieve academic goals as well as to record, access and present information. A member of the ‘Bring Your Own Technology’ initiative that promotes students using their own devices to meet learning objectives. • Library Development: Manage a library collection exceeding 20,000 items. Using online collection analysis, I raised the data integrity of the collection from 80% to 99%.• Broadcast News Team: Lead student news broadcast team that uses green screen software, multiple cameras and a teleprompter to create informative daily school wide news casts.• Library Initiatives: Battle of the Books competitive reading team sponsor, which placed in the top three in county competitions. Organize events such as author visits, Read Across America Day, and various reading incentive programs.• Fundraising: Led multiple teams to raise funds for media programs, including book fairs, birthday books and PTA initiatives. Part of a successful grant writing team. • Leadership: Mentor for new librarians within the district as well as new teachers in our school. Trainer at county meetings and presenter at the Forsyth Digital Conference. Laid Groundwork for media center renovations, including space planning and transition to the Learning Commons Model.
