Viking Hill Strategies is a full service, Boston-based transportation consultancy dedicated to getting results for its clients. Specializing in the state planning process, Viking Hill Strategies works with each client to develop a unique strategic plan to get desired results.

Recently completed more than four years at the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) where I served as Chief of Staff. At the 5th largest transit agency in the United States, which has more than 6100 employees, a $1.5 Billion annual operating budget and a $500 Million annual capital budget, was able to help lead the chronically under-funded, highly visible quasi-independent agency. In addition to regular duties, managed numerous technology initiatives on behalf on General Manager including award winning website- MBTA.com, first in the nation Wi-Fi on commuter rail, service delay notification- T-Alerts, and mobile MBTA.com.

Directed entire legislative effort on behalf of EOT and MassHighway. Routinely interacted with members of the House of Representatives and the State Senate, and worked very closely with the Co-Chairmen of the Joint Committee on Transportation and their staffs.

Helped lead a 2300 person agency with a more than $500 Million annual Statewide Road and Bridge program.

The public/private partnership assembled 200 acres of under utilized brownfields property in the cities of Malden, Medford and Everett. Responsibilities included working jointly with the three municipalities and the congressional and legislative delegations to attain state and federal funding. Helped to secure more than $30 Million through a number of state and federal earmarks.

Began career in the Massachusetts State Senate as Minority Leader Richard R. Tisei’s Legislative Director. Spent five years in the Senate, the last two and a half as the Senator’s Chief of Staff, and performed all the duties associated with managing a legislative office.
