Station Manager for the University of Colorado Mountain Research Station (MRS), a field research facility dedicated to the advancement of mountain environmental science. Located at 2900 m (9500 feet) in the Front Range of the Colorado Rockies, the Mountain Research Station is an interdisciplinary facility of the Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research providing research and educational opportunities for scientists, students, and the general public.Manage all site operational activities including employees, water and wastewater systems, capital improvement projects, contractor management, skilled trades interface, finance, site safety, and everything in-between for a site with over 50 buildings. Support academic and research activities through managing all course logistics including registration, instructor coordination, regulatory requirements, housing, and dining. With a small team at a facility in a remote location I am actively involved with all aspects of the business and serve in both a leadership and hands on capacity.

Lead component designs and release for injection molded parts, electrical assemblies, and metal parts for high volume manufacturing. Led the 3D integration with system owners to identify and resolve issues between adjacent and interdependent systems (powertrain, cooling, electrical, etc.) which together create the wind turbine powerplant. Responsible for release of full 3-D assembly and top level bill of materials (BOM).Technical project lead for electro-mechanical closure systems for nacelle cover. Wrote requirements, developed concepts, selected and optimized concepts with cross-functional team, designed components and assemblies in Pro E, validated requirements, performed functional prototype testing, and released production design.

Served as lead technical engineering resource for customer, supplier, and manufacturing interface. Authored and contributed to patents, technical papers, and conference presentations. Successfully led design, fabrication, testing, and field demonstration of the world’s first hydrogen fuel cell railroad locomotive. Integrated new fuel cell powerplant design, high voltage power conversion system, cooling system, and high pressure hydrogen fuel storage systems into battery hybrid locomotive. Designed, analyzed, and released 3-D models and 2D drawings for components, weldments, complex assemblies, and electro-mechanical systems using SolidWorks and Cosmos FEA.

Managed team of 6 engineers and 8 CAD designers developing ground up prototype vehicle. Led vehicle packaging layout and vehicle subsystem integration. Prioritized work load, ran team meetings / work groups, encouraged and enabled creative design solutions. Reviewed and approved system and component designs for release, supported fabrication at build shops. Led compartment integration of under hood compartment for production vehicle program; packaging, including manufacturability, assembly, safety performance, serviceability, part re-use, and mass / cost analysis.

Developed total vehicle packaging layouts, both clean sheet and existing architecture based. Created 3-D CAD models of automotive chassis and body components. Used finite element analysis (FEA) and kinematics simulations for suspension design. Created engineering drawings for prototype vehicle fabrication and provided daily build support.
