Summary of my current activities at EPTRI:1. Establishment of Plant Health Clinics Units, for diagnosing Viral and Bacterial diseases in important horticulture crops in Andhra Pradesh sponsored by “National Horticulture Mission (NHM)”:a. Standardization of PCR protocols for plant pathogen diagnosis of major pathogens of Papaya - [Papaya Leaf Curl Virus (PLCV)], [Papaya ring spot Virus (PRSV)] Banana - [Banana Bract Mosaic Virus (BBrMV); Banana Streak Virus (BSV)] and Citrus - [Citrus Yellow Mosaic Virus (CYMV); Citrus Tristeza Virus (CTV); Candidatus Liberibacter Asiaticus (CLA)] crops. b. Routine analysis of the samples received [through NHM] for pathogen diagnosis and report generation.c. Organizing training/awareness programs for State Horticulture Staff, Nurserymen on “The importance of plant pathogen testing and procedures for propagation of disease free planting material d. Drafting Nursery Act Rules for the Government of Andhra Pradesh to regulate the propagation of disease free planting material – EPTRI is one of the technical committee members.e. Archival and maintenance of plant/DNA material for future use and reference through genebanks etc2. Standardization of DNA barcoding protocols for the fungal genus Trichoderma.3. Handling tender procedures & rate contracts for procurement of equipment, chemicals and consumables.4. Preparation of Standard Operating Protocols (SOP) for laboratory maintenance for compliance to NABL standards.5. Supervision of under/post-graduate students for dissertation projects (10 No’s till date). 6. Conceptualization & compilation of data & literature for writing project proposals for submission to different funding agencies like DBT, DST, NMPB, NHM and MoEF.
