Krishnan is an international tax professional with significant on-ground practical experience of globalizing a company’s operations; managing the entire gamut of planning, compliance, tax audits and litigation in international income-tax and transaction tax, due diligence and contract structuring and risk mitigation. He has authored a book titled 'Investing in Indian and Foreign Start-up Companies' which provides an overview of regulatory framework of income tax and foreign exchange regulations for the start-up companies in India, direct investments in start-ups, indirect investments through funds, issue of ESOPs, Sweat equity shares and other securities to consultants and advisors.Krishnan has experience in the complete chain of employee mobility activities such as obtaining work and residence permits for employees deputed to work in foreign countries, implementing tax efficient compensation policies for such employees, obtaining social security exemptions and managing payroll compliance. He has also addressed the corporate tax consequences of employee mobility. He has significant experience in employee deputation and secondment arrangements.He was responsible for establishing the appropriate method for filing income tax returns in all countries where Infosys operated through a branch, supported by Transfer Pricing studies. In an uncertain business environment, risk mitigation gains importance and Krishnan has significant experience in designing contractual language minimizing tax risk for Infosys. He has obtained rulings and concluded Advance Pricing Agreements with income tax authorities, thereby mitigating tax risk. He has significant knowledge and experience in global transaction tax compliance regime such as Sales Tax, VAT, Goods and Services Tax (GST), Consumption Tax and such else. Krishnan has participated in due diligences during M&A and in deal structuring large and complex contracts with clients. Krishnan has made presentations in many forums and conferences in India and abroad on the challenges of managing international tax compliance. Krishnan has published an elaborate Discussion Paper on drafting Foreign Tax Credit Rules in India.He has worked closely with industry associations such as NASSCOM, CII, FICCI, etc on highlighting the issues faced by the Indian software industry in India and abroad.
