Project: Optimize polymer nanofiber scaffold design to stimulate the development of bone-tendon interface after rotator cuff injury by implementing an opposing mineral (hyrodxyapatite, HA) and protein (transforming growth factor beta 3, TGF-beta 3) gradient.• Fabricated nanofiber scaffolds by electrospinning and characterized scaffold thickness and average fiber diameter (using SEM) and protein gradient (through immunofluorescence microscopy).• Seeded primary chondrocytes on scaffolds and assessed cell viability and penetration through fluorescence imaging.• Evaluated cellular response through biochemical assays performed at various time points.• Drafted report summarizing results.

Project: Biomechanical characterization of TIM protein–mediated Ebola virus–host cell adhesion.• Performed single-molecule force measurements using atomic force microscopy between: (a) T-cell immunoglobulin & mucin domain 1 (TIM-1) and the glycoprotein (GP) of Zaire ebolavirus (ZEBOV), (b) TIM-1 and the virus-like particle (VLP) used to represent ZEBOV, and (c) TIM-4 and VLP.• Analyzed and summarized findings through reports and presentations.
