DVRCV is a state-wide not-for-profit with a vision to create a world in which women and their children are thriving, respected and free from violence. DVRCV is a state-wide resource centre working to build the capacity of professionals to prevent and respond to family violence. My achievements include the establishment, development, culture and growth of the Prevention of Violence against women team within DVRCV. I successfully expanded a capacity building program including the growth of a state wide practitioner network - Partner's in Prevention (PIP), delivering education and training, publications, and advocacy to and on behalf of practitioners and organisations across Victoria working to Prevent Violence against Women.

The Victorian Student Representative Council (VicSRC) is the peak body representing school aged students in Victoria. The organisation exist to empower all student voices to be valued in every aspect of education. In this senior position I was responsible for leading the growth of the organisation, developing the long term vision, implementing the 2014 – 2017 strategic plan, leading innovative programming, policy advice, ensuring financial sustainability and providing leadership, mentoring and motivation to the board, staff and members.

‘Teach the Teacher’ is a school-based professional development program for teachers, led by students. It brings students and teachers together to explore ways to enhance student wellbeing and engagement with the curriculum through improvements to the classroom environment. As project officer, I am overseeing, managing and supporting the delivery of the program in 10 schools across Victoria as part of the pilot. My responsibilities include stakeholder management, developing and delivering training for students and monitoring and evaluating the results of the project.

Working with the Victorian Electoral Commission in the Education team I have been supporting students and teachers in the area of Civics and citizenship education, by engaging young people with democracy and their rights and responsibility as active citizens. The role includes project managing the Passport to Democracy program, liaising with key stakeholders and building up the number of schools that deliver the program. Responsibilities include monitoring the education program, updating educational resources and presenting to different cohorts, preparation and planning of materials, and developing key messages suitable for specific audiences. In addition to working with young people, the scope of my work also involves outreach to other community groups including homeless, people with a disability and members of the CALD community.

I developed and implemented a communication strategy for the country office, provided skills training for staff, manage and update information on relevant websites. Promoted UN Women through the development of communication materials (including programme brochures, news updates and other promotional products. Maintain documentation, templates and established a photographic library. Support programme teams to develop project-related communication such as results based stories. Provided editing and formatting support to the office and programmatic reports and presentation. Built on and created new networks with donors, NGO’s and other UN agencies. Worked as part of the One UN Communications team on internal communications and the Greening the UN strategy.
