During the summer of 2020 when many internships were put on hold, I decided to start working for a local restaurant as a way to earn some extra cash and widen my skillset. As a server, I am mainly responsible for ensuring an enjoyable experience for our guests and providing them with drinks and food made to their preference. I am also responsible for things like opening and closing the restaurant at the beginning and end of each day, training new employees, and handling my own "cash bank". This job has greatly improved my collaboration, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, as well as a number of others. Being a server, you gain the experience of multi-tasking in a very fast-paced environment, and these skills and experiences are something I will take with me to any company I work for in the future.

As a telephone interviewer, I was responsible for assisting members of faculty in conducting important research, speaking with members of the community regarding personal thoughts and feelings about public affairs issues, and conducting surveys with High Point University alumni regarding their post-graduate careers. This position has had a very positive impact on my interpersonal skills due to the fact that a majority of my job was speaking with strangers over the phone. This on-campus job has also helped me with a number of other skills such as communication and critical thinking. Because of my experience at the Survey Research Center, I am very confident in my ability to sell myself.

During the summer of 2019, I had the great experience of interning for Dunkin' Brands. As an operating systems intern, I worked directly on the digital and technology team of Dunkin' Donuts. I assisted in a number of different digital projects and was able to work cross-functionally with different departments like marketing and information technology. I was able to test a new program that involved multi-tender payments, which eventually led the program to be passed for nationalization, and I worked closely with the development and design of different products to be used in stores by crew members. I was also lucky enough to participate in a number of different professional-development opportunities such as meet-and-greets with company vice presidents and executives. This internship allowed me to work hands-on with both the corporate side and the in-store side of a major fast-food company, and it was overall a great learning experience.

I have spent many years at Honey Dew Donuts participating in activities such as helping each customer and ensuring they receive their correct order, preparing food and drinks based on the specific request of each customer, counting money in each resister at the end of the day and ensuring a correct balance, and stocking, cleaning, and closing down the store at the end of the day in order to prepare for the morning shift. This store is a very fast-paced working environment and because of that, I learned skills such as adaptability, time management, organization, teamwork, and communication. This position is also where a majority of my customer service experience comes from.

I worked temporarily at a local country club for a few weeks at the end of summer 2016 because they needed some extra employees. As a server, I had many responsibilities such as taking customers orders at a poolside window, delivering food to each customer and ensuring they had everything they needed or wished for, and cleaning both the dining area and the kitchen area at the end of the day. Although I was not here for very long, this position helped me to further my experience in customer service, collaboration, and communication. Through this position, I had the opportunity to work and communicate with customers, co-workers, and supervisors. I gained a lot of interpersonal skills that will help me in any future internship or job.
