I became a teacher because I love thinking about how people learn and designing learning experiences that are meaningful and transformative. Now, in my role at EDC, I design learning experiences for young children, their families, and their teachers that explore the richness and beauty of mathematics and computer science. My work leverages school-home partnerships to expand access to mathematics learning opportunities for children from communities traditionally under-represented in STEM fields. I lead studies that design innovative, evidence-based instructional resources for teachers, families and children, and iteratively design and test digital and hands-on game-based resources to improve mathematics and computer science learning for children from preschool to elementary school. In my research, I use mixed methods data collection and analysis strategies that draw on the strengths of both quantitative and qualitative analysis to answer complex questions.
