Management of the overall implementation of the projects under Emergency Centre for Transboundary Animal Diseases (FAO-ECTAD) in Cambodia providing support to the prevention and control of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI), other Transboundary Animal Diseases (TADs), high impact zoonotic diseases and Antimicrobial Resistance/use (AMR/U). The programme was implemented in close collaboration with the Government of Cambodia, in line with the country priority framework, and in coordination with the Tripartite (FAO-OIE-WHO), the private sector, academia and non-governmental organizations.

The overall function was coordination of a multi-disciplinary research project on zoonotic diseases in Cambodia supported by the Swedish Civil Contingencies agency for raised zoonotic preparedness. The aim of the Project was to study the interplay between livestock and humans in rural areas of Cambodia, combining interviews and samples from humans and livestock (including cattle, chickens, ducks and pigs) for analysis of zoonotic risk factors, including influenza reassortment and campylobacter transmission along the meat value chain. Detection of expanded-spectrum-beta-lactamases (ESBL) in humans and animals was carried out as a side-project.Key Function:- Project implementation and fieldwork in Cambodia- Collection and analysis of samples including pathogen characterization and sequencing- Data management, statistical modelling and analysis of spatial patterns- Dissemination of results including presentations, reports and scientific publications- Organization and chairing of coordination meetings. PhD studies were carried out within the project.
