ISSD Africa is a four-year (2023-2027), SDC-funded award that aims to enhance smallholder farmers' access to quality seed. Specific attention is given to uniting international and African organizations and experts working on humanitarian, development and peace (HDP) interventions in Africa’s seed sector. Mercy Corps leads two action learning projects under the award: 1) Humanitarian seed response in fragile and conflict-affected contexts (with SeedSystem) and 2) Seed business development in fragile contexts (with IFDC). In my role, I support overall project strategy, partner management, technical implementation, and external representation.

PRO-WASH & SCALE collaborates with implementing partners to strengthen the design, implementation, and overall effectiveness of key sector-specific interventions across USAID/BHA’s food security portfolio in emergency and early recovery, risk reduction, and resilience (ER4) activities. I lead the Award’s technical interventions related to regenerative agriculture, natural resources management, market systems and livelihoods.

SCALE is an initiative funded by USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA) to enhance the impact, sustainability, and scalability of BHA-funded agriculture, natural resource management, and alternative livelihoods activities in emergency and non-emergency contexts.

Working under the OSGF President, provided strategic input and led communication outreach for the newly established Foundation, created with a $215M endowment from Bunny Mellon. Developed website at osgf.org

Developed, piloted and oversaw data collection for a survey methodology and indicator-based tool to measure the resilience of vulnerable communities to monsoon flood events along the Gandak/Narayani and Koshi river basins in Nepal and India.

Developed and conducted survey of 30+ key industries to determine their impacts and dependence on ecosystem services from Nyungwe National Park and Gishwati Forest. Resulting report laid out considerations and options for implementing a Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES) scheme.

Advised GoL officials on efforts to improve procurement, management and monitoring of natural resource concessions (timber, oil palm, rubber, mining) in consideration of government, community and private sector interests. Recommended improvements to legal frameworks for concessions bidding, awarding and operations. Conducted multi-agency user needs assessment to inform the design of a National Concessions Cadastre, which integrated geospatial data with information on land rights and uses.

Supported COP in leading strategic coordination, communication and workplanning for 20+ technical advisors working across 16 Government of Liberia ministries, agencies and commissions.

Advised on strategy, research and data analysis for the MoF’s Open Budget Electronic Billboard, aimed at building public transparency and accountability through the communication of public financial information to Liberian citizens with low levels of literacy and numeracy.

Conducted high-level interviews and analyzed data for GoL’s national health worker pay surveycovering all 15 counties, 410 facilities and 8095 employees. Co-wrote report analyzing challenges and opportunities, and providing recommendations for MOHSW to enhance the pay process, human resource capacities and organizational procedures.

Responsible for all aspects of in-country start-up for the $45-million USAID-GEMS program. Developed policies and procedures manuals for administrative activities. Oversaw finance and banking activities, managed administrative team, and conducted capacity building training to prepare local counterparts to assume greater responsibilities.

Supported all financial and administrative operations for the $22-million USAID-funded Liberia Governance and Economic Management Assistance Program (GEMAP). Edited new business proposals, conducted research, recruited experts, and coordinated partners and subcontractors. Contributed to IBI’s successful proposal for the award of the $45-million USAID-GEMS project.

Led the planning and research for a high-level U.S. trade delegation to Southern Sudan. Prepared Presidential Waiver package concerning U.S. assistance to a UN airlift in Darfur. Conducted extensive research and analysis for Southern Sudanese elections committee in lead-up to a popular referendum on secession from the North.
