I have been given the opportunity to fulfill a long-time goal of mine to work for Garmin. As an associate at Garmin, I work with Aviation equipment as I assist production in meeting on time deliveries.

I was tasked with efficiently and accurately assembling electronic equipment designed for lab environments. Our focus was to maintain quality by following best practices and holding ourselves to a high-level of accountability; verifying parts previously assembled; adding value to the assembly with which we were working on, and then verified our own process to insure the upmost quality.I coordinated with direct supervisor in order to resolve issues (e.g. received damaged parts); worked within the manufacturing team in order to achieve S.A.F.E. goals that include <1% scrap, <1% internal audits, <0.03% finished good audits, and >98% efficiency. I gleamed countless insights into 6-Sigma manufacturing philosophy and the importance of low-WIP manufacturing.

My second MECOP Internship through Oregon State University. At EATON, I worked on two distinct projects while learning under an Power Systems design engineer. One project had me learning the designs of multiple previous MECOP interns and doing a feasibility analysis on both. One of the previous designs was for a Solid-State power switching device. I reviewed engineering schematics, design analysis, and performing tests on prototypes. My findings were then complied into a report that was then presented towards the end of my time at EATON to a team of engineers. I performed similar steps in analysis of a program that had been written by a software engineering intern. My personal projects focused upon Coulombic charge and measurements of lead-acid battery systems using existing EATON products as well as emergent technologies.

Portland, Oregon Area

After a competitive selection process and then placement interview panel, this became my first Multiple-Engineering Cooperative Program (MECOP) Internship through Oregon State University. At Veris, I spent time learning and adapting a process for calibrating current transducers for power metering and branch monitoring systems. I learned a great deal about my own engineering workflow and how to structure efforts in problem analysis, design, troubleshooting, testing and reporting.
