Respond to emergency calls to provide efficient and immediate care to the critically ill and injured, and to transport the patient to a medical facility. Uses the knowledge of the condition of the patient and the extent of injuries and the relative locations and staffing of emergency hospital facilities to determine the most appropriate facility to which the patient will be transported unless otherwise directed by medical direction.

Collected pertinent information from the patient, family, and friends, medical records, and prescriptions. Operated and maintained emergency vehicles in a safe, efficient manner while obeying all traffic laws. Provides first aid, CPR, controls bleeding, applies splints to fractions, and other stabilization techniques to the sick and injured. Monitors patient vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and breathing. Care for patients at the scene of an accident and while transporting patients by ambulance to the hospital under medical direction.
