The Human Resources office inside the MSU Library is a public office used to assist faculty, staff, student employees and library patrons. Over the course of the nearly three years I worked in the office, I was promoted twice gradually taking on additional responsibilities. These included:- Being the first line of contact in the office via phone, e-mail and in person- Handling all matters professionally and confidentially- Walking students through the hiring process and paperwork- Electronically submitting hiring forms- Editing timecards when asked by supervisors and assisting in all other matters regarding student employment- Creating and maintaining department personnel files- Completing day-to-day tasks such as filing, copying, shredding, and the management of documents and files- Uploading and maintaining Librarian (Academic Staff) application pool for open job searches- Compiling and preparing reports for HR managers- Helping to plan and coordinate the student safety meeting and the student supervisor meeting twice yearly- Organizing, updating and maintaining materials for the annual RPCA process (similar to tenure) for librarians - Helped to plan and coordinate two major office moves- Created and maintained a procedures manual for our office that could be referenced by future Human Resources employees or be used as a reference guide

In my role as a Research Assistant within the College of Arts and Letters, I undertook project-based responsibilities including collaborating with Dr. Ann Mongoven on researching and developing her course focused on the social and ethical challenges surrounding death and dying in America as well as a research project on the progress of students in the Preparation for College Writing program at MSU. These experiences enhanced my skills in research, collaboration, and data analysis.

The Spartan Bookstore lies in the heart of Michigan State University's campus. It's the go-to place for textbooks, Spartan gear and even a quick bite as host to a small convenient store. The bookstore maintains a primarily student staff throughout the year, with a particularly business seasons at the beginning and end of semesters, and during successful sport championships. My time was primarily spent:- Working in the cash wrap, textbooks, general merchandise, and shipping departments - Assist customers, both over the phone and in person- During one particularly busy season, in 2014 after Michigan State had won the Rose Bowl, I initiated a new organizational system for online and phone orders where in-store pickup was requested.
