My projects typically involved extensive teamwork across departments to create the most effective donor experience for our organization and ultimately for the betterment of the United States Naval Academy. I reviewed copy, artwork and messaging, sliced data, created mail/email lists, responded to donor inquiries, monitored results and analyze the good, the bad and the ugly on a regular basis. I worked closely with our communications, IT, gift processing, advancement services, major gifts, planned gifts and treasury departments regularly. My favorite part about working in annual giving was reviewing response rates, upgrades and acquisition. I truly enjoyed and took pride in my role of building the major gift pipeline.Along with colleagues from all five federal service academies, I coordinated the inaugural "All Academy Challenge": a week-long, initiative that inspires not only our most loyal donors, but also lapsed and new donors in the spirit of competition to raise charitable gifts for our respective academies. The AAC generally follows the giving day model, but is broader in duration and scope and requires the coordination of five separate fundraising entities.
