Client Services And Process Improvement
Client Services / Process Improvement
I liaise with clients, architects, builders, planners, surveyors and engineers for the purposes of planning, scheduling and coordinating construction projects. I also review and implement process and system changes to streamline the business and improve client outcomes. Latterly, I have also handled our social media and online presence.
Bid And Opportuntity Coordinator
In this double role I handled recruitment for the business and also developed links through the internet to website and other sources that provided us with a variety of business opportunities, mostly in the public sector. I analysed, costed and tendered for those bids using my knowledge of our resources and service capability. All these skills were interlinked as knowledge of potential client requirements directly affected our resourcing and recruitment on an ongoing basis.
Hr Consultant
As a consultant, I provided clients with HR services such as recruitment, staff policy, learning & development plans, salary analysis, etc. I also worked alongside the Managing Director preparing business plans and proposals; in supporting the business I prepared accounts, forecasts, track expenditure and invoicing.
Resources Manager
With extensive knowledge of Learning Solutions and the resourcing of them, I took this role to provide suitable staff to fulfil client requirements. After client consultation I drafted the specification of all requirements, calculated gross margins, advertised, reviewed CV’s, interviewed, reference checked and subsequently issued job offers with all supporting contractual information. I would, where necessary, maintain contact with both the client and the placed resource ensuring satisfactory performance overall and negotiate contract renewals where appropriate. In addition:• Maintained all employee records & contracts• Maintained detailed database of potential candidates• Contributed to RFI, RFP and due diligence submission where required• Conducted disciplinary & redundancy consultations• Handled Annual Performance Reviews• Handled all inductions• Devised Staff handbook
Group Infrastructure Services Training Manager
Following my involvement with the UK IT reorganisation and the merge of Glaxo and Wellcome, I applied for and was appointed to the above position. In my second ‘start-up’ role for Glaxo, I costed, delivered and reviewed all IT infrastructure training for a 10,000 UK user base. • Key Achievement: Presented with the Glaxo Wellcome Customer Service awardOnce the Group Infrastructure Services (‘GIS’) area was initiated, induction of over 150 staff was supplemented by my team who also arranged their personal and technical development. I managed up to 16 training suppliers with the aim of consolidating and contracting out the administration. As many projects were managed by GIS, the training team worked primarily on these, looking at learning styles, multi-media education and ‘conferencing’ tools, thus ensuring the best use of resources, managing costs and providing education in a timely manner.
Desktop Unit Manager
With a background in developing desktop standards I was appointed to this position by the IT Director. A new unit aimed at increasing productivity at the desktop, our team concentrated on implementations such as desktop fax, electronic diarising, automated extension searches, templates and IT education. A key area in promoting awareness of technology was through ‘super users’, individuals within the business who understood the capabilities of the desktop and imparted this to their colleagues. Acknowledging the invaluable work they performed, we formally recognised the group who subsequently assisted the smooth roll out of projects with appropriate feedback. • Key Achievement: Increased desktop productivity within Glaxo plc by 20% through various initiatives in 1994Latterly, I worked on a Joint Enterprise Technology (‘JET’) project team analysing the impact of consolidating IT infrastructure technologies. Our recommendations to the Board were approved and Group Infrastructure Services (‘GIS’) was born.
Senior It Business Analyst
With a support background and knowledge of a wide range of PC and network products, both hardware and software, I was recruited as an IT Business Analyst. During this time with Glaxo, I liaised with various departments ascertaining their IT requirements and offering business driven solutions; then detailed potential projects to planners/programmers, providing support and training where necessary.Being involved in both a standards committee and a company-wide electronic mail evaluation, it was necessary to communicate well at administrative, managerial and directorate level. As a member of the Corporate and Legal projects group, I offered technical advice and took responsibility for some sub-projects within the team.
Technical Support Specialist
I was recruited as a Technical Support trainee, and provided with extensive training, mostly at Hewlett-Packard. I covered the support desk, eventually visiting customer sites to perform installations. After the first year I was providing both pre and post-sales support along with end-user and technical staff training. I continued to perform installations nationally with my largest customer being Glaxo. For eight months, I was assigned to a contract at Courtaulds Acetate that involved monthly site clinics around the country, resolving problems and providing user training.I was also involved in a large scale New Wave installation with the British Council, installing systems and providing training on MS-DOS 5.0, New Wave 3.0 and 386 hardware for their support staff. Latterly, I was contracted to Glaxo Holdings plc for six months covering their Hotline and performing installations.
